In this video, Dr. Manatosh Panja, Dean, Indian College of Physicians will talk on the rising prevalence of coronary artery disease in India and its causes. He says that even if there are no risk factors, then perhaps genetic factors, environmental factors and lipoprotein (a) are the important host factors for heart disease. Insulin resistance is the most important factor. Abdominal obesity and sedentary lifestyle with no exercise are also the important factors for coronary artery disease. He will further discuss the preventive steps for CAD such as salt restriction, consume more amount of green vegetables and fruits. Also mustard oil is beneficial for preventing heart disease.
