Antibiotics are widely used medicines in the treatment of infectious diseases. However, some also show non-antibiotic properties, which are increasingly used in treating non-infectious diseases. The potential use of Doxycycline as anti- cancer and an anti-inflammatory agent has also been reported. Available evidence from basic science and clinical research supports the conclusion that it may still be a safe and effective agent for treating many other diseases beyond its antibiotic effect.
