Up to 80% of all cases of sudden cardiac death are caused by coronary artery disease, making it the most frequent factor. A cardiovascular cause of death that happens within an hour after the onset of symptoms is known as sudden cardiac death (SCD). When the heart stops pumping or does not beat fast enough to keep the body perfused and maintain life, a sudden cardiac arrest occurs. Cardiomyopathy associated with obesity, alcoholism, and fibrosis is the most frequent cause of nonischemic sudden cardiac death. The total out-of-hospital survival rate for sudden cardiac arrest is about 7%. To learn more about SCD, join us in this interactive session.
